- Antohi Romanian Pepper
-
Certified Organic
SORRY, SOLD OUT. NEW FOR 2012! (78 days) This Romanian heirloom is named for Jan Antohi, a Romanian acrobat who defected to the U.S. When he finally went back to visit his family in 1991, he returned with seeds of this traditional favourite. Strong, upright plants produce heavy yields of early-maturing, 4" long, tapered fruits that ripen from yellow through orange to red. Very sweet, it is excellent raw, stuffed, roasted or fried - frying seems to heighten the sweetness. Very dependable producer that does well in the greenhouse.

- Bellstar Tomato
-
Red; Paste/Sauce; Certified Organic
NEW FOR 2012! (65 days) Determinate. Aka 'Bellestar'. I'm so excited to have found this tomato! It was developed in 1981 by Dr. Jack Metcalf, of the Smithfield Experimental Farm in Trenton, Ontario, which is about an hour away from us so it's really local. Dr. Jack did a great job - it matures much earlier than most other plum tomatoes, making it a cool-season champion, yet its fruit is larger than those of most of its peers. The compact plants produce large quantities of rich-tasting fruit that are easy to pick and great for fresh eating as well as making fabulous sauce.

- Black Cherry Tomato
-
Black; Cherry-type; Certified Organic
NEW FOR 2012! (64 days) Indeterminate. The blackest cherry tomato available! Small, 1" cherry tomatoes are a deep mahogany-brown and are produced prolifically all season. The flavour is typical black tomato - rich, full and sweet with a hint of smokiness. Grow with White Cherry and Isis Candy for gorgeous early market cherry tomato mixes.

- Blue Hubbard Winter Squash
-
Certified Organic
NEW FOR 2012! (110 days) (C. maxima) Developed from the original Hubbard squash, Blue Hubbard was introduced by the Gregory Seed Company in 1909. It is a large, 12-15 lb., oval-shaped fruit tapered at both ends with attractive blue-green skin and deep orange, medium-dry flesh that is very flavourful. Excellent storage squash. Averages 1 - 2 fruits per plant.
- Brianna Tomato
-
Red; Endangered; Certified Organic
RE-INTRODUCED FOR 2012! (85 days) Indeterminate, Potato-leaved. I decided to grow this heirloom for no other reason than it had the same name as my niece. However, I'm so glad I did! This heavily-foliaged plant produces large, beefsteak-type, pinkish-red fruits with a dense flesh and a sweet, rich flavour. Little information is available on this tomato, other than it is one of Carolyn Male's favourites, but I highly recommend it for the home garden.Very prolific for a large tomato, it tolerates a wide variety of growing conditions.
