Seed-Saving Tools
- Germination Papers
-
These professional germination papers will provide much more accurate germination results. Paper towels are often chemically-treated, which can hamper germination. This kit contains: 20 sheets of fine,5" x 7.5" germination paper (for small to medium-sized seeds); 10 sheets of 7.5" x 10" heavy duty germination paper (for beans, peas, etc) and 5 sheets of 6" x 4.75" germination blotter paper for testing seeds like lettuce that need light exposure.
- Glassine Envelopes
-
These are the high quality glassines that we use ourselves. Measuring 1.75" by 2.75", they are open at the narrow end (meaning seeds won't spill out) and have a centre seam. Excellent for storing small and medium-sized seeds.
- How to Save Your Own Seed
-
Book
This book, compiled by Seeds of Diversity, is a great handbook for beginning seed savers! Easy to read, it covers basic seed-saving principles such as adequate isolation to prevent cross-pollination, germination-testing and storing. It then addresses seed-saving for each of the major plant groups.
